As a consultant, she has spent over two decades working with public and private sector, for profit and not-for-profit, domestic and multinational organizations, helping them design and manage complex organizational growth and change and develop the leadership necessary to sustain change.
Between 1999-2004 she was a senior member of a small boutique consulting group whose work focused on the challenges of developing and retaining talented women in the workforce and in particular the professional identity issues that women face and the role of internal and external mentoring/coaching in confronting those issues.
Over the years she has had the opportunity to work with a wide array of clients including: Detroit Edison, Crittendon Hastings (Boston), Goodyear Tire and Rubber, Charles Schwab, Warner Lambert, Lotus Development Corporation, Avery Dennison, Prudential Holborn Financial Services (U,K.), London Business School, Hawker Siddley Ltd, (U.K.), The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Boston Partners for Education, Marriott International, The Civil Service College of Great Britain, The National Association of Independent Schools, Oxford Energy Corporation, The South Carolina Executive Institute, Hasbro,and the Stockholm School of Economics.
After twelve years at Harvard University, Shubert joined Babson College’s Center for Women’s Leadership in 2004, where she was the Director from 2007-2011. In addition to teaching in the MBA programs at Babson, she is also the faculty co-chair of Babson Executive Education program for women, Moving from Managing to Leading.
From 1992-2004 she was on the faculty at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard, designing and teaching courses in the degree programs, serving as Faculty Chair for the Mid-Career MPA Summer Program and teaching in a wide array of Executive Programs, including two designed specifically for women and two designed to foster democratic devolution in Northern Ireland.
Prior to joining the Kennedy School in 1992 Shubert spent two years as a visiting professor at London Business School in organizational behavior, four years as a lecturer at Harvard Business School, and seven years at the University of Michigan, where she was both a member of the faculty and a senior administrator.Her Ph.D. is from the University of Michigan (1978), her Masters from Michigan State University (1973) and her undergraduate degree from Southwest Missouri State University (1970).
She and her husband Charles, who is a senior research director at M.I.T, live in Wellesley, Massachusetts. They have one adult son.
